Cuidemos la Finca

Cuidemos la Finca is a citizen-led digital movement that emerged shortly before Costa Rica’s presidential elections, gaining rapid traction through social media with a clear objective: reduce voter abstention and defend Costa Rican democracy. The initiative began with a viral audiovisual piece that sparked national conversation and quickly evolved into a broader platform for civic engagement and political education. Within this initiative, I worked as screenwriter and video editor on two audiovisual pieces designed specifically for digital platforms: The first piece, “Voting from Abroad,” focused on Costa Ricans living outside the country. The video provided clear, accessible information about the external voting process while actively encouraging electoral participation among the diaspora. It reached 36K views in under 48 hours, demonstrating strong engagement and relevance among expatriate communities. The second piece, “Three Ways the Current Administration Has Attacked Culture and Freedom of Expression,” presented a data-driven critique of Costa Rica’s current government. Using verified sources and concrete policy examples, the video addressed cuts and decisions affecting cultural institutions and freedom of expression, while emphasizing the importance of informed voting in upcoming elections. The piece reached 19.6K views in just 24 hours, generating significant discussion and visibility.
